‘Industry 4.0 and the processing of composites require an unencumbered flow of data to work efficiently,’ notes Zünd’s local market representative, Navin Jeewanlall of Midcomp. ‘With Zünd PreCut Center, users are well equipped to handle the challenges of demanding manufacturing processes. The software automatically optimises contours and adjusts cut paths according to the choice of material and tools. For instance, the integrated nesting function lays out parts automatically for optimal material utilisation. Maximum yield is essential for economical digital cutting when one considers the high cost of materials.’
According to Navin, Pick&Place represents a cost-effective solution for fully automated picking and kitting of cut parts. The Pick&Place interface enables direct communication with the robot via the Zünd Cut Center and operating software plus the user interface. Pick&Place also makes it possible to completely automate parts removal, kitting and placing using the parameters derived from the metadata supplied with the job order.
Although Zünd cutting systems are systematically geared towards fully automated digital production workflows, they allow for gradual implementation with a wide array of semi-automated solutions as a converter’s business grows.
Ed’s note: Midcomp is in the process of installing a brand new demo unit at its Randburg-based Innovation Hub and interested parties can book a virtual or onsite demo.
