The award-winning print, completed on a Mark Andy P5 press, utilised DuPont HIQS plates and Flint UV inks, with repro done in-house. The judges praised the print’s tight registration and immaculate reversed out outlines, which showcased meticulous attention to detail.
According to production manager Willem van Straaten, achieving such a high standard came with its challenges. ‘The biggest hurdle was ensuring the ink and laminate adhered perfectly to the substrate without delamination,’ he explains.
Another significant challenge was achieving uniform laminate application to ensure a smooth finish. ‘Our team’s ability to overcome these challenges demonstrates the value of collaboration and precision in flexo printing,’ Willem adds.
The customer supplied the design, which included intricate reversed printing and cold foiling. Inkon Labels translated this vision into reality with precision and flair. ‘The foiling elevates the design, giving the product a premium look and helping it stand out on crowded shelves,’ Willem remarks.
The sachet format aligns with market trends prioritising convenience and extended shelf-life over traditional containers. ‘This shift reflects growing consumer demand for sustainable, space-saving packaging that complements modern lifestyles,’ he notes.
Building on this success, Inkon Labels is preparing to enhance its production capabilities with the arrival of a cutting-edge seaming and finishing machine early next year. ‘This new addition will position us as 100% in-house for shrink sleeve production, bolstering our capabilities in this growing market,’ Willem shares.
