Fujifilm South Africa expects the construction of its new five-story head office in Sandton to be completed in December.
Once finished, the 999m² building will incorporate office space, a repair centre and Fujifilm Technology Centre Africa, which will provide a demo and training centre for the company’s different departments, including Graphic Communication (wide format printing, packaging, commercial digital and commercial offset), Medical Systems and Imaging Solutions.
Designed by Empowered Space Architects, the head office will be constructed to fall in line with Fujilfilm Holdings’ climate action targets: to produce net-zero CO2 emissions by the fiscal year ending March 2041. Initial energy-efficient solutions include the use of motion sensor and day/night lighting, energy efficient plumbing that consumes less water, the harvesting of rainwater and solar panels on the roof.
At the recent sod turning ceremony managing director Taro Kawano said: ‘This year marks the 10th anniversary of Fujifilm establishing a subsidiary in South Africa, and what better way to reaffirm our commitment to the country than with the construction of this head office in Sandton and the only Fujifilm Technology Centre of its kind on the continent.’
