Aligning with internationally-acclaimed brands is one aspect of Kemtek’s continued success, coupled with expert sales and service support, and an agile and specialised national distribution network, annually achieving some 15 000 deliveries.
Long-established in the lithographic, flexographic, digital and large-format printing and packaging arenas, Kemtek has evolved over time into a multi-pronged organisation, entrusted with channel responsibility by many of the world’s leading brands in the barcoding and labelling sectors through widespread professional resellers, plus 3D printing through its joint venture partner, Rapid 3D.
This fast-growing enterprise also represents specialist additive manufacturing equipment and materials providers in multiple sectors including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, medical, dental and jewellery, including pioneering brands such as EOS, Envisiontec, MCor and Zortrax, to name but a few.
Global names within Kemtek’s broader portfolio also include Argox, Brother, Cipherlab, Datalogic, Epson, Flint Flexographic Plates, Honeywell, HP Indigo, NCR, Scodix, Seuic and Xeikon ThermoflexX.
Creating sustainable value
Creating value on a sustainable basis is Kemtek’s marketing approach that’s based on developing a detailed understanding of markets served and, most importantly, the needs of the end user. These needs are then married to the technologies provided by Kemtek’s principal brands.
Additionally, there’s a commitment to ongoing investments in leading systems to enhance the channel and distribution efficiencies, whether CRM and sales, procurement planning, inventory management, warehouse management or logistics.
Providing a winning edge for all Kemtek’s customers means delivering the most advanced technological equipment, backed by a total commitment to service excellence. Kemtek technicians are factory trained and qualified and, whether for electrical, mechanical or prepress matters, equipment installation, preventive maintenance or standard service, are on call and ready to assist nationwide.
Each Kemtek brand is managed by a brand champion and strategically promoted to target industries through specialised technical publications, online marketing, industry seminars and training courses, plus open houses and local and international trade shows.
Showcasing core strengths
A highlight in South Africa’s printing and packaging sector is Propak Africa, an exhibition that takes place every three years in Johannesburg. Attracting more than 200 000 international and local visitors, the show has long provided a successful platform for Kemtek to promote its world-class range of products and services.
At Propak Africa 2019, special focus is being placed on new-generation technologies from HP Indigo, Flint Flexographic and Xeikon ThermoflexX.
HP Indigo has expanded its labels and packaging portfolio with technology solutions to drive printing and converting toward more flexible, productive and profitable digital printing of any application.
‘Several customers are growing fast across all segments and leveraging HP technology to innovate and deliver on brands’ evolving needs,’ comments Carl Zerle, head of Kemtek’s Digital Division. ‘And, with the new HP Indigo 6900 digital press, we’re able to offer higher revenue per metre, including Pack Ready for Labels for the production of high-resistance labels for food, household, chemical and pharmaceutical labels,’ he adds.
Certified with the Intertek Green Leaf Mark, the HP Indigo 6900 Digital Press is manufactured carbon neutral, and offers reduced production waste, a take-back programme, and energy efficiency. The Regenerated Imaging Oil (RIO) system allows the press to be self-sustainable in imaging oil usage.
Application options include HP Indigo ElectroInk Silver, delivering metallic effects across a wide colour gamut, similar to Pantone 877; HP Indigo ElectroInk Invisible Blue, Green and Yellow visible under UV light for brand protection and promotional labels.
Taking digital finishing to the next level is the ability to integrate the Indigo 6900 with the HP Indigo GEM digital embellishment unit – a one-pass label printing and embellishment system for spot, tactile, foil, holograms, mini textures and lamination.
Additionally, the high-performance HP Production Pro for Indigo Labels and Packaging is included in the HP Indigo 6900 (as well as HP Indigo’s entire Labels and Packaging portfolio). Featuring five times faster RIP power and the Esko Colour Engine, the powerful Digital Front End provides extensive productivity and scalability for continuous digital production, allowing converters to scale and manage their digital production across multiple presses and multiple sites, increasing the number of jobs per day, and shortening delivery cycles.
Alliances go from strength to strength
In the packaging sector, Kemtek’s alliance with Flint Flexographic products goes from strength to strength. Following the successful introduction of nyloflex FTF flat-top digital plates some three years ago, Flint has extended the range with nyloflex FTF-UV plates, designed for high-resistance to UV-based inks, and nyloflex FTP for paper packaging applications such as multiwall sacks and liquid dairy cartons. Another important development between Kemtek and Flint Group is a distribution agreement that allows Kemtek to supply the full range of ThermoflexX laser imaging systems in South Africa.
Whether converters are producing tags, labels, flexible packaging, folding cartons or corrugated packaging, ThermoFlexX imagers are recognised for offering the required combination of size and productivity for any narrow-, mid- or wide-web application, and for durable design and quality workmanship. And all equipment is sold and installed according to Kemtek’s service guarantees and advanced technical support programme.
