Headed by Bruce Allen, Ipex Machinery is a specialist supplier of advanced equipment, representing leading manufacturers such as Windmöller & Hölscher, Gidue, Prati and Ashe Converting in the packaging printing, label printing and converting sectors.
‘Vetaphone systems form an integral part of most of today’s modern printing presses and, with the increased use of film products, it’s important that local converters have an experienced local equipment partner that can offer the right corona treatment platform,’ comments Bruce. ‘At Ipex we’ve always put huge emphasis on understanding our customers’ particular production requirements and can offer sound, expert advice on the entire printing process.’
Jimmi Johansen, Vetaphone’s area sales manager, recently visited South Africa to provide training for Ipex Machinery’s national technical team and sales representatives. He also took the opportunity to meet printers in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
‘This is my first trip to South Africa and, judging by the companies I visited, I was very impressed,’ remarks Jimmi. ‘I’m confident that Vetaphone’s corona treatment systems will add real value to many enterprises that have ventured into film converting and printing.’
Ultimate efficiency and easy operation
Vetaphone has recently developed a range of compact Corona-Plus treatment stations designed with a Corona Quick Change Cartridge for easy maintenance.
Each station offers up to 8kW corona power/metre, sufficient to treat almost any type of substrate and, because of its compact size, it can be quickly and easily mounted inline on any press with a web width from 100mm to 3 000mm.
Converters can also equip each station with segmented electrodes for partial treatment, or up to six ceramic electrodes for treatment of electrically-conductive substrates (metallised film) and non-conductive film (PP and PE). Additionally, all parts utilised in the Corona-Plus are made from corrosion- and ozone-proof materials.
Another important aspect of Vetaphone’s business is its computerised generators that ensure a wide power regulation band, high efficiency and minimal energy loss.
Electronics are modular and can be exchanged quickly and easily and the intuitive control panel allows for effortless operation. Designed to operate 24/7 under any conditions, the generators are self-diagnostic and both internal and external functions are continuously checked via a monitoring system.
‘Vetaphone’s technical expertise and product range sets it apart from its counterparts,’ states Bruce. ‘We’re enormously proud to represent the brand in southern Africa and Jimmi has equipped our team with the knowledge and tools to offer sound advice to any converter considering a corona treatment system. We’ve already kicked off 2013 with some significant installations and we’re looking forward to spreading our footprint beyond South African borders during the year ahead,’ he sums up.
