Low maintenance flow meter filling

Filtec Automation offers a range of rotary flow meter fillers for a wide range of products from food and beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical applications and there are many options available including mass flow meters, mag flow meters and turbine flow meters, to best suit selected products. Each machine can be configured to handle a variety of products and packaging sizes to ensure maximum flexibility and productivity.

The flow meter fillers are offered with options that include a foil capper, pick ’n place or on-the-fly capping options utilising screw caps, snap caps and RO capping heads, as well as servo controlled capping heads for torque specific applications. They also include cap orientation, either vibratory or rotary cap unscramblers with cap elevators.

Controls are via touchscreen hmi, incorporating fully automated height adjustment when changing bottles, as well as adjustable CIP operations.
The filling principle is simple with an infeed scroll and star wheel moving containers into the filling area.

The containers are lifted on a cam onto the nozzles, which can be either two-stage filling nozzles, with a fast and slow filling cycle, or single-stage nozzles that fill the bottles to the desired volume before transferring them to the capping turret and onto the
exit conveyor.
The rotary capper is available in a number of options including a servo controlled capping turret, a conventional screw capping turret, with variable torque magnetic clutches, while a snap-cap turret is a pick ’n place or on-the-fly capper that’s supplied complete with a cap unscrambler.

Machines are available in both standard configuration for food and general applications, as well as a GMP-compliant configuration which maximises cleanability for pharmaceutical applications.
Filtec Automation’s developments have focussed on these rotary flow meter filler cappers in applications where customers need to fill at speeds of 60 bottles/minute and more. These fillers are monoblocked with cappers to provide a complete filling and capping solution on one compact block.

In some cases tri block filler cappers have been supplied to customers. In these cases the filler has two capping turrets – such as for roll-on deodorant where the bottle is filled, a ball is inserted and then the cap is applied. The tri block filler is also used for applications where a measuring cap is applied over the normal cap.

Aside from flow meter fillers Filtec Automation continues to develop its range of linear fillers to attain higher output speeds.
Gear pump fillers have been the traditional choice of many manufacturers and flow meter options have now been added to the linear fillers which include gear pump and volumetric piston fillers.

Filtec Automation manufactures high-speed twin-lane gear pumps and flow meter fillers that reach speeds of 150 bottles/minute for 250ml bottles. These offer flexibility and simplicity in one machine and are combined with stand-alone rotary cappers to provide
a complete filling and capping solution.
