Caption: Three MDs line up to toast their newly formed alliance – Rowan Beattie (Pyrotec), Andrew Denny (Fix-a-Form International) and Rian Moore (Collotype Labels).
As a label printer, Collotype concentrates its sales efforts in the beverage industry. Now, as a result of Collotype’s commanding market share of this sector in the Western Cape, and its newly-signed sales licence, Pyrotec will be able to increase its penetration into the wine and spirits markets.
Pyrotec MD, Rowan Beattie, provides some reasons for the agreement: ‘After thorough investigation of wine label printers in the Western Cape, we felt that Collotype would slot in perfectly with our vision of providing innovative and top-quality product identification solutions. This is because of Collotype’s market coverage, quality and service, culture and international connections. Moreover, Collotype’s ethos dovetails perfectly with ours.’
For Collotype, the agreement translates to an array of Pyrotec products and expertise to offer customers. ‘Collotype can now sell all PackMedia on-pack devices to its pool of customers in the beverages industry without a long learning curve and without capital expenditure,’ Rowan adds.
Such devices include the Story Behind Our Wine label, a sleek multi-page label that’s effectively a brochure on a bottle, as well as other similar Fix-a-Form products for on-pack communication.
Rian Moore, MD Collotype Labels, is equally pleased with the agreement: ‘This association with Pyrotec has the right feeling, with the vision and style of our companies being so similar. We’re really looking forward to exploring the new opportunities that these additional products will bring. We’re also convinced that our customer base – many long-time supporters of our innovation-centred approach – will be excited by this extension to our offering.’
Andrew Denny, MD of UK-based Fix-A-Form International, was also on hand to address guests at the function.
Operating via an exclusive global network of independent label printing specialists, Fix-a-Form International ensures a supply of the highest quality in over 50 countries including South Africa (watch for an exclusive interview with Andrew in the next issue of PPM).
Andrew applauded the sales licence and the use of the Story Behind Our Wine label. He demonstrated the impact of on-pack activity by citing research conducted by Fix-A-Form International that shows 60% of buying decisions made in store. Two of the top ten reasons that influence these decisions are product appearance as well as on-pack information. Addressing guests, many of whom were winemakers, Andrew remarked, ‘A label such as this is seen as added value by consumers who like to know more about the products they buy. An on-pack device ensures your product stands out in the cluttered retail environment and is a guaranteed way to increase sales.’
The sales licence agreement is already in effect and is renewable on an annual basis.
