Anja Kirton, Fujifilm Graphic Systems’ product manager for Wide Format in South Africa, explains that Acuity Prime has been designed to shift PSPs’ expectations relating to price/performance, versatility, value, ease-of-use and the best return on investment (ROI) available on the market.
According to Anja, its optimised price/performance features include an air-cooled LED curing system that negates the need for an expensive water cooling system, a single-phase 25-amp supply that helps minimise running costs and a Uvijet HM ink system formulated to produce high-quality, vibrant images while adhering to a broad range of flexible and rigid media that are up to 51mm thick.
In addition, a new jetting primer further improves adhesion to particularly challenging substrates. ‘This removes the need for offline pretreatment of substrates before printing, saving time and money,’ Anja reports.
She points out that careful consideration has also been given to operational ease of use for operators and service engineers. The media loading pins, for example, can be operated with the touch of a button, allowing for pinpoint media placement precision and accurate print registration from job to job.
Other job set-up time-saving features include the five-part media zone system (based on common media sizes) to reduce the amount of masking required and the splash-free ink pouch system for easy changeovers, which incorporates an LED light system to alert the operator to low ink levels.
Alongside these technical features, the Acuity Prime includes practical benefits such as an integrated shelf for operator tools, which allows them to be kept close to hand but safely away from the machine’s moving parts. There is also a cabinet built into the space underneath the front of the machine for convenient storage of PPE, personal items or first aid kits, helping to keep the area around the press clear.
The jury of the Red Dot 2021 design awards recently recognised Acuity Prime’s design for combining user-friendliness and practice-oriented flexibility with impressive efficiency and performance. ‘We are very pleased to see this wide-format printer get the recognition it deserves because exceptional design is critical to achieving our objectives of achieving outstanding price/performance, redefining print ROI and resetting the expectations around ease of use,’ Anja concludes.
