The virtual trade fair stand is complemented by six-themed focused multimedia sections covering end-of-line solutions, digitisation, service, sustainability, strapping, and industry sector solutions. These sections feature user videos and interviews, brochures and contact details of specialised Mosca experts.
‘With the digital stand, we have created a varied portal that enables visitors to experience our technologies and solutions on a virtual level,’ says CEO Timo Mosca.
The fully automated end-of-line scenario, for flexibly securing stacked pallets of different heights, combines the high-performance KZV-321 and EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 H strapping machines with automated guided vehicles supplied by partner company, Gebhardt Fördertechnik. Detailed displays provide an in-depth view of all machines.
The KZV-321 exhibited on the stand (pictured below) is a variant of the proven Mosca pallet strapping machine equipped with two side sealing units, an open strap frame and six movable strap lances at three different heights. This enables users to flexibly strap single pallets of different heights, as well as stacked pallets.
‘We see potential in the combination of highly-efficient strapping machines and freely moving conveyor elements as a means of increasing flexibility and performance at the end of the packaging line,’ Timo remarks.
The KZV-321 straps up to 130 single pallets or 65 double pallets per hour. The machine can be optionally equipped with an integrated turntable, which enables it to efficiently secure two pallets for transport. The KZV-321 first straps each pallet separately to create a stable bundle. A machine operator or automatic pallet doubler then stacks the two pallets on top of each other. This stack is fed into the KZV-321 again and, if necessary, realigned on the turntable. Finally, the machine’s strap lances pass through the planks in the base of the upper and lower pallets. This second strapping creates a stable bond between the stacked pallets.
‘By strapping the double pallet through the pallet bases, the KZV-321 introduces a completely new process to the market that automatically and efficiently creates a stable unit,’ asserts sales manager Christian Zwieb. ‘The straps are threaded through the planks in the pallet base to ensure maximum strap tension, without touching (and potentially damaging) the products.’
He points out that because the strapping attaches the top and bottom pallets, it doesn’t need to be placed around the entire stack. ‘This ensures maximum stability, saves consumables, lowers costs and helps protect the environment,’ Christian states. ‘The two-stage securing process also makes it easier to split double pallets again without affecting the bond between pallet and product. The straps are removed quickly and easily without leaving any residue.’
Other technologies and concepts on show include the EVOLUTION SoniXs TR-6 Pro Industry 4.0 machine, sustainable strap solutions, and the Mosca Performance Services area introduced by the company last year.
With this service, which forms part of the ONE Service range, customers receive individual advice on continuous optimisation and long-term efficiency improvements for their Mosca machines. ‘We wanted to create a range of services to use at any time throughout the entire life cycle of a Mosca machine,’ explains Timo.
The sustainability section showcases Mosca’s full array of sustainability concepts that range from recyclable materials and eco-friendly processes to climate-neutral production operations.
