Already operating in West Africa’s plastics sector, including film extrusion, injection blow moulding and woven sack production, four years ago Socipack diversified into high-quality flexible packaging production at its Abidjan facility.
Initially, the company acquired five-layer coextrusion production machinery and a couple of CI flexo presses with inline finishing, but soon set about investing further to meet the needs of the local self-adhesive, shrink sleeve and wraparound labelling market.
Its first move, in 2017, was the installation of an eight-colour Nilpeter FA-6* flexo press. But owing to growing regional demand this has now been followed by the acquisition of a 10-colour Nilpeter FA-22 line.
Today, with considerably increased capacity, Socipack is running the two Nilpeter lines in three shifts, and achieving high-quality finishes, including holographic effects.
Wrapping up a bright future
According to MD, Hassan Abdallah, Socipack’s high-quality label production has attracted many repeat customers, who are benefitting from the company’s region-leading shrink sleeve capabilities for their food and other primary packaging needs.
‘Thanks to professional management and high confidence in our partnerships with Nilpeter and BLG International, we’ve established European manufacturing standards in West Africa,’ Hassan states.
‘We have a bright future ahead, complete with possible expansion plans into other countries.’
