With its combination of tried-and-tested components, the KCK 131-26 can apply edge protection to 200 pallets/hour. According to Mosca, that’s up to 50 pallets more per hour than conventional strapping presses.
The heart of the press is the SoniXs sealing unit that uses ultrasound to weld the strap ends. Mechanical oscillations are transmitted to the ends of the plastic strapping material under pressure, welding the ends together. This method provides added strength, enabling strapped goods to withstand higher transport stresses.
Electrical edge protection is said to lower energy costs compared to pneumatic systems, since it eliminates the need to produce expensive compressed air, and provides fast, accurate and reliable positioning.
Press force is continuously adjustable and the speed of the drive is controlled by asynchronous servo motors. Using a split unwinding reel in continuous operation, the strap welder saves strapping material – and therefore cuts costs. The two-part split also means that the operator can change strap rolls quickly and easily from outside the security zone.
The combination of these various elements, Mosca claims, promotes efficient performance with outstanding environmental values – and the KCK 131-26 carries Mosca’s GET Inside technology label (GET Inside stands for Green Efficiency Technology Inside). Products bearing this label meet pre-defined criteria, such as the use of ultrasonic generators, brushless DC motors and power electronics in place of hydraulics or pneumatics, as well as the use of climate-neutral PET strapping.
Mosca specialises in modern strapping technology, from universal devices with a wide range of applications to automated high-performance machines. Based in Germany and founded in 1966, this family-owned company is considered a leader in the strapping sector. With 11 offices worldwide and around 750 employees, it’s represented in South Africa by Goldpack.
