All the Siemens S5 components are removed and replaced with the latest S7 PLC components, including the touch panels PLC. The panel PC by Siemens is equipped with the modern LCD technology and the latest Lenze regulators are now in place.
This simplifies spare parts inventory and renders them easily available.
According to Siemens, the S7 system sets the benchmark in configuring hardware, establishing communications, programming, testing, commissioning and service, documentation and archiving, and operational/diagnostic functions.
‘The Siemens S7 software is tried and tested in the corrugating industry. All the basics are the same but it’s more accessible and user-friendly, which helps enormously with our productivity,’ remarks George Gwebane, operations manager at Nampak Wadeville Corrugated. ‘We get great support from BHS and Dennes Engineering. Specialist technicians from BHS complete all installations and commissioning of the new equipment, and sort out any teething problems that may occur. BHS also provides remote assistance and trouble shooting, if and when necessary, and completes scheduled services and full operator training.’
BHS claims to be the world’s largest provider of solutions for the corrugated industry with a market share above 40% in the field of corrugators, corrugating rolls and services. The company’s main characteristics include competence, innovation and a passionate commitment to excellence.
Dennes Engineering, based in Cape Town, offers full engineering services to South Africa’s printing and packaging sectors, representing BHS and other leading bluechip international companies.
