Tim Clarke, CEO of Burgopak Healthcare & Technology, continues: ‘The innovative packaging design adds significant value to the brand as it’s stylish and appeals to consumers. In a highly competitive market, it offers differentiation and we’re delighted to continue working with Bayer Healthcare.’
The Burgopak was first seen at interpack in 2008 (PPM Jun08, p70), when Bosch Sigpack worked with Burgopak to develop automation machines to launch this patented pharmaceutical packaging, which was chosen initially by Bayer Healthcare for its Rennie
ICE brand.
Since then, Bayer has chosen this slider pack for the launch of Levitra, and in France it’s being used by Sanofi Aventis for its DolipraneLib and Maalox brands.
Burgopak’s patented sliding mechanism was originally designed for CD and DVD packaging but has since been used in a variety of markets.
For pharmaceuticals, this clever pack offers an operating system that supports patient safety and compliance, and is also robust, portable and user-friendly. It also offers strong branding opportunities.
The Burgopak’s patented sliding mechanism keeps the patient information booklet, the blisters containing the medication and the branded outer carton conveniently connected at all times; it also reduces the chances of counterfeiting.
The Burgopak won top compliance packaging awards in the US and Europe including Best Compliance Package (Pharmapack Paris, 2008),
Best Pharmaceutical Pack (The Packaging Society, Silver 2007) and Compliance Package of the Year (Healthcare Compliance Packaging Council, 2006).
