In 2006, after a ten-year stint with Sappi, Simon Grose joined the team, heading up this vibrant, fast-growing business as its MD.
Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength and today is jointly owned by Simon Grose, Jonathan de Villiers and Winter & Co.
Synergy from the start
In conjunction with hand-picked business partners, Graphica launches a fresh range of covering products annually, keeping the South African market abreast of global colour trends, ideas and innovations.
Founded in 1892, the Winter & Co name is synonymous with premium-grade covering materials in numerous colours, surfaces and structures, providing limitless variety. Included in the wide-ranging creative portfolio are renowned materials such as Skivertex, Corvon, Nabuka, Quinel, Wibalin and Wintan, developed with inspirational elements such as leatherlikes, metallics, textiles, naturals, technical, black and white, and much more.
‘Working with Graphica for more than ten years has been a privilege,’ comments Steve Burdett, MD of Winter & Co UK, and a regular visitor to African shores.
‘Simon’s and the team’s commitment to all stakeholders is superb,’ he continues, ‘and watching the company develop – and its fast adaptation to market changes – has been a particular highlight. Under Simon’s management, Graphica has developed into an ultra-modern business, and has become a leading distributor and, ultimately, the most important material supplier in South Africa. Our iconic brands are in very safe hands, and we look forward to many more years in successful partnership.’
Winter & Co currently holds an inventory of more than eight million square metres of cover materials; and 4 400 computer-controlled stock locations. ‘Over the years, we’ve systematically increased our converting and finishing department, allowing us to convert stock to customers’ specific requirements,’ Steve adds. ‘And we continually provide our partners with world-leading technical and R&D support.’
