Some 80 of Uteco’s 2 700 machines installed worldwide have been sold in the UK to multinational groups and small to medium converters, for advanced applications in film, paper and folding carton production, as well as in the banknote security sector.
Uteco’s experience in the UK market has allowed the group to make important contacts with staff at Swansea University who specialise in advanced research fields such as printed electronics.
Uteco to open third plant in Italy
More Uteco news is that towards the end of this year and early next year, Uteco’s worldwide customers are to be invited to the launch of the company’s third major plant in Italy (following the recent expansion of its US plant), as well as the enlargement of its R&D and Technological Excellence Centre known as the ‘ConverDrome’.
These events will take place alongside other initiatives to mark Uteco’s 30th anniversary, including an open house at which visitors will witness technological achievements in the printing, converting and other advanced applications fields.
This year, Uteco expects to confirm its continuing growth trends which in 2013 resulted in a 30% increase in sales volume and assets compared to 2012. This will allow for further investment in the new production and R&D development sites, and in strategic strengthening in terms of human resources.
