Packaging & Print Media has a vacancy for a journalist, who will be responsible for:
- writing articles for printed and electronic media
- interviewing a variety of people in factory, conference, association meetings, exhibition or award ceremony settings
- building contacts within the industry to maintain a flow of news
- attending a variety of events and taking photographs for coverage in the magazine
- creating and uploading news content for social media platforms
- producing concise and accurate copy according to house style
- adhering to strict deadlines
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
- have at least three years’ journalistic experience in B2B publishing
- a journalism diploma or degree
- a technical orientation – enthusiasm to learn about the latest commercial printing processes and packaging manufacture, from raw material supply to end user, and ever-changing technologies
- be flexible and willing to travel occasionally for out-of-province interviews and overseas exhibitions
- a high-level of computer literacy, specifically in MS Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- experience in multi-tasking and performing under pressure to meet deadlines
- have above average language skills in English and an eye for detail when proofreading copy-edited work
- be proficient in photography, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube
- have his/her own vehicle and current driver’s licence
- have his/her own smartphone to use for work purposes
