Advanced glass coating technology comes to South Africa

With two thriving production sites in Gauteng – a plastic bottle printing plant in Midrand  and a glass printing and coating operation in Bramley View – pad printing, screen printing, foiling, sleeving and glass frosting is carried out by a highly-experienced and dedicated workforce, some of whom have been with the company since its inception in 1991(PPM Oct11, p26).

Perfect product preservation

Emma Rowberry meets with Cecco and Andrea Giovannini, Bag in Box Consultants’ proprietors, to discuss Goglio’s coffee packaging innovations.

Much of Bag in Box Consultants’ focus is on aseptic packaging for the juice and fruit pulp sector (PPM Feb13, p60). However, another large part of its activity, and the core business of its principal, Goglio, is aseptic packaging and filling equipment for the coffee sector.

The estimated value of the world pet food market is US$65-billion. Growing annually at 4%, it’s forecast to reach US$96-billion by 2017. Emma Rowberry looks at packaging formats and added-value options available for pet food products.

Just like humans, pets like great tasting food and their discerning owners want to know they’re feeding their ‘best friends’ the finest products available and it’s important that products retain vitamins and minerals necessary to promote good health.

In a competitive market, where brands strive to set themselves apart from the competition, it’s not surprising that brand owners and manufacturers are turning to packaging to respond to consumer needs.
