Parmalat gets a smart, new Edge

Milk can be viewed as a commodity item but that’s not how brand owners play it in South Africa. Low margin and highly competitive as it may be, the sector has enjoyed notable innovation, especially when it comes to packaging, in recent years – and the latest development is the launch by Parmalat of its EverFresh UHT milk in the new Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Edge. Brenda Neall reports.

The evolution of milk packaging is a long and ongoing journey; from glass, paper carton and PE bag, to chug, clear PET and multilayered HDPE bottles. Now we have the Tetra Brik Aseptic 1000 Edge, a brand new container that’s added a big dose of differentiation to South Africa’s UHT milk shelves.

Filling a vital role at GEA

GEA Procomac has appointed Roger Gallow to steer a new growth path for the company in South Africa, writes Karen Stretch.

GEW’s 10 000th UV curing system

Production at the AB Graphic International’s UK factory was temporarily suspended recently to celebrate the arrival of the 10 000th UV curing system from GEW. 

This arrival marked a milestone in the business relationship between the two companies with 140 AB Graphic International employees gathered as GEW MD, Malcolm Rae, made the official announcement. 

‘Over the years our two companies have worked together on many projects that required a UV solution,’ he remarked, ‘and this delivery is especially significant.

Another Rotoflex sale

SArepco has announce the sale of yet another Rotoflex machine in South Africa. 

GM Graphix has ordered a Rotoflex VSI 330 rewinder.  This machine has been commissioned alongside other Rotoflex machines to cope with the busy time of the year. 

Paul Bouwer, SArepco director, and local agent for Rotoflex in Southern Africa facilitated the sale.
