Shave and Gibson

It’s 30 years since the name Shave & Gibson started to make its mark as one of South Africa’s principal packaging converters.  Today, it counts among leading independents when it comes to production of folding cartons and laminated boxes. In addition, the company’s security printing division is the largest cheque and security printer in Africa. The supplement included with this issue covers the period from 1981 (when Alan St Clair Gibson and Neville Shave purchased a company called Group Printing & Packaging and renamed it Shave & Gibson) to 2011 and a myriad highlights in between.

Today S&G is owned and managed by CEO, Simon Downes, who – aided and abetted by fellow directors, Dave King, Jim Short and Jason Staats – has taken the company into a new era, and attained fresh heights. Don’t miss this important profile that documents the 30-year life of a key component of South Africa’s packaging and printing industry.

Untamed and out there

Beginning in February, and with another month to go (at the time of writing), Roland’s Untamed Roadshow is at a town near year you, teaching digital printing techniques to South Africans up and down the country. EMMA ROWBERRY tracks the show’s progress.

VISITING 39 towns across South Africa, Roland’s Untamed Roadshow is hard to miss! The focus of these events is education and showcasing innovative and creative business solutions.

Creating new boundaries at Renform

At Renform, the installation of Kodak’s latest inkjet printing system has doubled productivity and paved the way for high-volume colour printing, reports KAREN STRETCH.

IF you’ve ever placed your cross on a ballot paper, applied for a passport or played the Lotto, chances are that the document could have been produced by Renform.

Renform’s printing capabilities extend to a multitude of applications thanks to its flexibility and expertise in litho, sheet-fed, narrow-web flexographic and digital printing. Continuously investing in state-of-the-art technology, Renform has recently purchased an in-line Kodak Prosper S10 Imprinting System incorporating Kodak Stream inkjet technology.
