The low-down on Cosmoprof

.‘Low’ and ‘down’ are the operative words that RAP International marketing director, Andrea Protti, uses to describe the prevailing mood at Cosmoprof this year, the cosmetic world’s annual get together in Bologna, Italy. But never one to see the glass half empty, Andrea left the expo full of enthusiasm and optimism at how tough times are generating some inspired innovation in cosmetic, beauty and personal care packaging.

I love Cosmoprof. Every April, I relish revisiting my roots in Northern Italy and getting to savour the show’s ambience of super-charged craft and novelty in a corner of the world that juxtaposes the ancient history of Europe’s oldest university city with the very best of modern design and engineering for which Bologna is equally famed. Cosmoprof is a figurative spa-treatment, and a chance to recharge one’s creative batteries.

Dummies Guide to the Consumer Protection Act

.Attorney, Janusz Luterek, highlights important aspects of the new Consumer Protection Act. This important legislation recently became law and its ramifications need to be appreciated by the entire supply chain.

THE Consumer Protection Bill became the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 on April 29, 2009, and is now law! It has far-reaching implications for every aspect of consumer relations.
 
While the Act beefs up protection for consumers, which is welcomed, it may have unforeseen consequences including increased prices as retailers, wholesalers, and manufacturers take steps to minimise potential losses and pay for lawsuits. There is no room for complacency. Consumers are becoming ever more militant, and in the light of the new regulatory environment, as well as the ever-more litigious society in which we live, the entire supply chain – manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers,
restaurants and all service providers – need to sit up and pay attention to product liability issues in their industry.
